Ō mātou uara – Our Values
Identity
Identity is at the core of each of us. It represents who we are. Our birthright to culture, language, ethnicity, knowledge. It is the foundation of who we are as people.
Connection
Our identities are made up of so much rich history, so much lived experiences and so much hope for the future. Making connections to the past, present and future will help us to define who we are. It brings confidence in ourselves.
Confidence
Having a firm foundation in who we are gives us the confidence to thrive. When we are confident, we are great learners. We become life long learners because we are solution finders with a positive mindset to try new things.
Tō mātou pā – Our village
Our philosophy
We aim to implement a real world learning approach for all children. We focus on helping children to be firm in their identity, so that they can gain confidence. This confidence will prepare them to be life long learners.
Our kaiako – educators
Our kaiako/educators are a diverse team who are qualified and experienced in childcare + education. They are appointed because they believe in our philosophy and vision. They were chosen because their values aligned with ours. We employ great people, because when you have good character, you are teachable.
Our learning context
Our whare is a concept design of what Aotearoa, New Zealand is from the past to the present. You will find that every piece of furniture, resource and toys are mostly recycled and tell a story. We have curated this whare to tell our tamariki stories of old, of present and of the future. There are many stories told and untold of our beautiful country, and we intend to unpack these, using our space as a teacher.
Our kai
We are committed to promoting and providing healthy, nutritious food that will help to feed our whānau. When our bodies are healthy we are in a better state for learning. We are a dairy, egg and nut free service. We also use only natural unrefined raw cane sugar when needed.
Our Pēpi – 0-2yrs
Our pēpi have a dedicated space to crawl and be safe. Our kaiako are dedicated to our little ones so that they get the affection, care and love they need at this infancy stage. Our whare also has a toddler space for our walkers who are a little bit more energetic. This means they have a space to explore while keeping our tiny tots safe.
Our Tuakana – 3-5yrs
Our tuakana are the leaders of our whare. They have all the opportunities to explore and gain experiences that will help them to be firm in who they are, understand their world and become life long learners. Our 4yr olds have a transition to school programme that focuses on life, self-help skills as well as the basic fundamentals they need for higher learning.
